It started with a long time fascination. Creator Philipp King who has brainstormed for Crazy for You, and has written for Komiks, Love Spell and ASAP shares "Guilty Pleasure ko yung mga anime kasi i like the way they tell stories, the look, yung pagiging action packed, makulay at saka out of this world talaga."

He pitched the idea of an anime inspired teleserye to created manager Rondell Lindayag and ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Deo Endrinal who both agreed that the concept had real possibilities. "Na-approve tapos dire-diretso na and then we noticed na yung level ng special effects, the way we were writing it, we thought na baka hindi namin mapanindigan. Naging line production sya nila Direk Erik Matti, Don Don Monteverde, Reality Pictures and Larger than Life."

"Rounin" or "Ronin" is the japanese term for "masterless warrior." "Sa Japan, nung time ng mga warlords, may in-assasinate na isang warlord tapos yung 12 samurais niya pinaghiganti yung master nila, sumugod sila sa castle ng kalaban tapos ang dami nila napatay pero nahuli sila in the end. Sila lang yung grupong pinayagang mag-harakiri (honorable death by suicide). Iisipin mo masama siya dahil masterless warrior pero very honorable actually kasi they did everything for their master."

In the series, an elite team of warriors (Luis Manzano, Angelica Panganiban, Nikki Gil, Jhong Hilario and Rafael Rosell) are tasked to protect the city of Lumeria againts the city of Helion, the city of death. Each Rounin specializes in a certain martial art and is commanded by a master rounin, the ruler of Lumeria (Diether Ocampo). As the Story goes along, when the need for new rounin arises, ang papalit ay sina Rayver Cruz and Joross Gamboa". Who's going to die among the five original warriors? "Spoiler pag ni-reveal ko!" King smiles.

The show will come out on the second quarter of 2007. Production deliberately took its time, making sure that the preparations that went into the project won't go to waste. Then the forces of nature had a hand in the project, causing its delays. "Technically, nauna pa ito kaysa sa Komiks eh. Tapos diba remember we had a series of storms? May isang instance na they were supposed to destroy the set for an important scene but the day before bumagyo kaya kailangan nila i-rebuild yung set para sirain lang ulit."

King describes the special effects as "ASTIG". "Parang pag naglalaro ka ng computer, pag sinuntok yung lupa, tatalsik talaga. O kaya habang nag-aaway tayo, magiging amber yung kamay ko, hanggang sa lumabas yung apoy talaga. Hindi siya yung parang simpleng magic lang. It is akin to ones seen in Final Fantasy while recalling some of the tricks employed in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. "May scenes na may pagka crouching tiger, yung isa lumilipad sila sa ere, espadahan sila. May isang eksena naman na maghahalikan lang yung dalawang tao (Luis and Angelica), tumalon pa sila sa ere tapos para silang helicopter na bababa sa lupa"

No Expense was spared. a cement factory in Taytay was transformed into one huge studio and the services of Hong Kong fight instructor Phillip Ko were secured. What they tried to create was virtually an entire world with its own physical rules and way of life. "Hindi siya Pilipinas, Hindi siya sa earth, may sarili silang kultura, iba yung way nila ng pagdarasal, iba yung writings nila, although not necessarily yung linguwahe".

It also helped considerably that the cast was equally enthusiastic. "They train talaga. Si Melissa Ricks ang galing, si Luis kickboxer talaga, Si Rafael, Si Jhong, mga dancer diba? Minsan hindi na sila nagdo-double when they fight" Angelica Panganiban in particular is grateful for being cast in Rounin. "Na-inspire akong mag wu-shu. Sobrang effective way to lose weight."

At the center of the series is a touching love story - make that a series of love triangles. King is confident that they'll be able to tap a wide audience with Rounin. "Basic core ng viewership natin mga babae eh. Bonus na yun if you could draw in mga bata, mga lalake. there's fighting scenes. Saka ang hilig ng pinoy sa anime!"

Dream Engagement Ni Angel

Sa pagdaan ng mga taon ay naging stable ang relasyon nina Angel Locsin
at Oyo Boy Sotto at di naapektuhan ang kanilang pagmamahalan ng kahit
anong intriga. Pero malayo pa silang magpakasal dahil marami pa silang
pangarap na nais matupad.

Tinanong namin si Angel kung ano ang gusto niyang pamamaraan sakaling
i-announce ang kanilang engagement ng nobyo.

"Gusto ko yung bumababa ako sa isang magandang hagdan at nasa ibaba
naman si Oyo para salubungin ako. Parang debut ang drama," sabay
halakhak nito.

Top 20 StarStruck hopefuls meet the entertainment press

The remaining 20 hopefuls in the ongoing StarStruck The Next Level,
GMA-7's first and original reality-based artista search, were
presented for the first time to the entertainment press last night,
December 27.

The 10 boys and 10 girls each paraded their talents—30 seconds of
singing or dancing—to the press attending the launch at Studio 3 of
the Kapuso Network.

The top 10 boys are Aljur Abrenica, 16, of Pampanga; Chad Burden,
20, Cebu; Dave Valentino, 20, Marikina; Dex Quindoza, 17, Manila;
Jan Manual, 20, Laguna; Kiko Junio, 16, Pampanga; Lui Perez, 19,
South Cotabato; Mart Escudero, 16, Cavite; Paulo Avelino, 18, Baguio
City; and Prince Stefan, 17, Iloilo.

The top 10 girls are Chariz Solomon, 17, of Pasay; Hazel Uy, 19,
Cebu; Jean de Castro, 17, Mandaluyong; Jesi Corcuera, 16, Pasay;
Jewel Mische, 16, Bulacan; Kris Bernal, 17, Quezon City; Lizzy
Pecson, 19, Pampanga; Renee Lascuna, 17, Davao; Rich Asuncion, 17,
Bohol; and Stef Prescott, 16, La Union.

This fourth batch of StarStruck contestants is one of the most
interesting in the history of the talent search of GMA-7. There are
the sob stories—someone who is a product of a dysfunctional family
or someone looking for a missing biological parent—that have become
a staple among contestants in artista-searches since StarStruck
began.

This year's roster also includes a son of royalty from Saudi Arabia
(Prince Stefan), a Sam Milby-look alike (Dave Valentino), a former
talent of ABS-CBN (Mart Escudero), a son whose father is in jail for
drug possession (Kiko Junio), a Japan entertainer-wannabe (Chariz
Solomon), and a girl who is openly lesbian (Jesi Corcuera).

For the first time in the four-year history of StarStruck, four
equal winners will be named and three titles are at stake: Ultimate
Sweetheart, Ultimate Hunk, and Ultimate Loveteam.

On New Year's Eve, December 31, these 20 hopefuls will be reduced to
the standard Final 14 in an episode airing live from Raja Sulayman
Park, Baywalk, Manila.

The fate of the StarStruck Top 20 rests on: (1) the votes of the
Council, composed of multi-awarded actress Lorna Tolentino, multi-
media director Louie Ignacio, and top-caliber talent manager Douglas
Quijano; and (2) the text votes from their fans and supporters.

About the coming year and new shows on TV 2007. New things.

While GMA-7 prepares their fantasy series, they have now come out
with Asian Treasures, Lupin and Super Twins for next year.

Asian Treasures features Robin Padilla and Angel Locsin. Lupin has
Richard Gutierrez, the current Captain Barbell.

Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado are behind the star-studded cast
of Super Twins.

On the other hand, ABS-CBN midway through 2006 have been preparing a
Piolo Pascual-Claudine Barreto soap, Walang Kapalit. In fact, cast
and crew went all the way to Australia to tape some episodes.

Midway through the year, there was also the search of a young girl,
about 8 to 11, who would play the title role in a revival of
Flordeluna which started out as a radio soap in the `70s.

Eliza Pineda, 11, a child TV actress for three years, was chosen for
the title role of Maria Flordeluna which will hit the TV screen
later in January.

With Jerry Sineneng as its director, the cast is impressive: Vina
Morales, Eula Valdez, Liza Lorena, Johnny Delgado, Albert Martinez,
John Estrada, Roldan Aquino, Minnie Aguilar, Jill Yulo, Alwyn
Uytingco, Nash Aguas and Kristel Fulgar.

In mid-November when Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo were through
with their festival movie Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, they also started a
new soap.

Taping last November stated in Vicente Cruz St. in Sampaloc with
Rory Quintos. Also in the cast are Gina Pareño and Aiza Seguerra.

This Juday-Ryan has the title of Ysabela. There is always a first
time of TV soap for Juday and Ryan.

Angel at Richard, perfect match

Tama si Ms. Lorna Tolentino na strong support siya sa Mano Po 5: Gua
Ai Di dahil halos pumantay na siya sa exposure ng mga bidang sina
Richard Gutierrez at Angel Locsin.

Simple lang ang kuwento ng MP5 na katulad ng mga naunang Mano Po
movies, ang basic conflict ay ang pagmamahalang Pinoy at Chinese.

Very light ang atake nito na bumagay sa young cast kesa kung ginawa
itong madrama at masyadong seryoso.

As usual ay matino ang pagkakadirehe ni Direk Joel Lamangan at
pawang nag-deliver ang kanyang mga artista. Okey ang timpla ng
comedy at love story. Type namin ang pagtatampok sa mga pagkaing
Chinese at `yung mga eksenang nagluluto ang mag-lolang Angel at Ms.
Boots Anson-Roa, sana lang ay medyo hinabaan pa ito at mas nabigyan
ng highlight.

Sobrang guwapo ni Richard Gutierrez sa screen at hanep ang moviestar
aura. Cute siya bilang young veterinarian na nainlab sa hindi niya
kalahi.

Perfect match sila ng ever beautiful na si Angel Locsin, na hindi
lang maganda kundi mahusay pang aktres. Kwela si Ms. LT bilang
purong Chinese na ina ni Angel na kontrang-kontra sa Pinoy na si
Richard.

Halos lahat ng eksena ay nandu'n siya pero pinakaaliw kami sa
celfone scene ni Ms. LT na kiyemeng may kausap siya, wala naman pala!

Ang ganda-ganda ng exposure ni Christian Bautista sa MP5. Tailor-
made sa kanya ang role ng isang sikat na Asian singer na kababata ni
Angel at naging `sagabal' sa pagmamahalan nito at ni Richard.

Very sympathetic ang character ni Christian at kahit `panggulo' siya
sa magka-loveteam ay hindi siya lumabas na kontrabida.

In fairness ay ang laki ng in-improve ng kanyang akting. Swabeng-
swabe ang dating ni Christian at never siyang nagkulang o nag-OA sa
kanyang mga eksena.

Kargado siya ng tamang emosyon kaya naantig kami sa tagpong
nagpapaalam na siya kay Angel at siya na lang ang lalayo at
magpaparaya. Sana, mabigyan agad ng follow-up movie si Christian.

`Katuwa `yung pagsisingit ni Direk Joel ng mga dream sequence gaya
nu'ng well-choreographed fight scene nina Richard-Christian in full
Chinese martial arts costume.

Medyo nanghinayang lang kami sa kapansin-pansing pagbabago ng kulay
at texture ng pelikula sa ilang eksena dahil ang ganda-ganda pa
naman ng look at color ng movie, tapos ay biglang nagkagano'n.

MMFF Movies Official First Day Gross

As I said, the nine entries of the ongoing Metro Filmfest (until
Jan. 7, 2007) are ranked in many different ways, depending on who
you're asking.

Yesterday, Funfare published the opening-day ranking furnished by
the bookers' group, without the figures.

Here now is the ranking when the Metro Filmfest opened on Dec. 25,
with the corresponding grosses:

The ranking stays the same on the second day (Dec. 26).

However, Mano Po 5 has been picking up now that enough prints have
arrived., On opening day, the Regal entry had a limited number of
prints, thus depriving moviegoers a chance to watch it. But they can
always catch up.

I'm inviting Funfare readers to watch all the entries and help prop
up the local movie industry which is only now getting back on its
feet after a lingering slump. I assure you that all nine entries are
worth your while and your money.

Kristine Hermosa - nag suplada sa bazaar tiangge

WELL, delusions of grandeur talaga ang sakit ng karamihan sa ating mga
artista.

Perfect example daw itong ABS-CBN talent na si Kristine Hermosa na
kinairitahan ng fans at security people sa bazaar-tiangge ng
celebrities kamakailan sa World Trade.

Kung ang ibang artista raw ay talaga namang go talaga roon para
personal na i-meet ang kanilang mga tagahanga at ibenta ang kanilang
goodies, itong girlfriend ni Diet ay feeling Greta Garbo raw na
super-tago kapag nagpupunta sa kanyang booth dahil ayaw na ayaw
ni-yang nakikita siya ng kanyang mga tagahanga dahil tiyak na
mapapagod daw siya sa kapipirma ng autograph at pakikipag-pose for
souvenir photos.

Ha! Ha! Ha! The nerve! Para bang sikat na sikat pa siya gayung iisa na
lang yata ang kanyang pro-duct endorsement.

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Anyway, hindi nagtapos doon ang lahat. Dahil nairita sa kanyang
obno-xious prima-donna demeanor, sinigawan daw ng mga fans at security
guard ang aktres ng, "Laos!" Ha! Ha! Ha!

Pa'no naman, sigawera raw ang tisay na `to at kung makapagtaray sa mga
sikyu ay para bang siya ang nagpapasuweldo sa kanila. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Hayan, naokray tuloy.

Buti nga. Dapat talaga sa mga artistang tulad ni-yan ay tinuturuan ng
lek-syon.

Jennylyn at Polo, nagde-date?

Hindi naitago ni Jennylyn Mercado ang inis sa bagong issue na
kumakalat na more than friends daw sila ni Polo Ravales.

"Friends lang kami ni Polo," madiin na sabi ng aktres, sabay dagdag
na ayaw na niya ng mga issue tungkol sa kaniyang love life na hindi
naman totoo.

Hindi rin alam ni Jen kung saan nagsimula ang tsismis na ito, pero
si Polo may hinala. Sa tingin ng aktor, baka raw nagsimula ito nang
suportahan siya ng mga fans ni Jen nung magguest siya sa All Star K!
At lalong nagtataka ang binata dahil hindi naman raw si Jen ang
sumuporta kundi mga fans.

Ayon pa kay Polo, malabong maging sila ni Jen dahil parang kapatid
lang daw ang turing niya sa dalaga.

Gerald Anderson's interview about Farina Runkle

Ang pictures nila ng sinasabing ex-girlfriend niya na si Farina Runkle ang una naming itinanong kay Gerald Anderson nang matsika namin siya kahapon nang tanghali sa pocket presscon ng teleseryeng Sana Maulit Muli sa 9501 resto sa ABS-CBN.

Si Farina ang girl na katabi, kayakap at kahalikan ni Gerald sa mga photos o pictures na kumalat sa internet.

Ang sabi-sabi ay naging syota ni Gerald si Farina, na kasama sa mga nag-audition sa StarStruck The Next Level ng GMA. Napili ito sa top 20 girls pero hindi na pumasok sa final 10 girls.

"Naging close lang po kami nu’ng nagkasama kami sa auditions ng PBB Teen Edition, nu’ng bago ako pumasok sa Bahay ni Kuya…

"Parang papunta pa lang po kami roon (sa boyfriend-girlfriend relationship) pero hindi po naging kami. Siguro, parang MU (mutual understanding) lang.

"Parang medyo nag-iba po siya nu’ng napili ako at siya, hindi. Ewan ko po sa kanya kung bakit," dayalog ni Gerald sa kanyang signature Tagalog na may accent na pinagsamang Bisaya at Ingles.
Kung hindi sila naging magsyota eh, bakit ganu’n ka-sweet ang pictures nila? Magkaibigan lang ba ‘yung nagli-lips-to-lips?

"Ay, hindi po, hindi po talaga! Kung naging girlfriend ko po siya, aaminin ko po. Nagulat nga po ako paglabas ko ng Bahay ni Kuya na may mga pictures na gano’n. Pero okey lang po sa akin. Alam ko naman po ang totoo, eh!" bulalas ni Gerald.

Ang dating no’n ay ginagamit lang siya nu’ng girl na ‘yon para pag-usapan ito at mapansin. Anong feeling niya rito?

"Gawin niya kung anong gusto niyang gawin, okey lang sa akin! Basta, alam ko naman ang totoo, eh! Alam ko naman na hindi talaga naging kami.

"Parang mali po ‘yon (na nilabas ni Farina ‘yung mga picture), pero anong magagawa ko eh, lumabas na, di ba? Kahit may pictures po na gano’n, hindi po talaga naging kami. Kung naging ex ko po siya, aaminin ko naman, eh!" mariing pakli ng 17 y/o Fil-Am bagets.

Ayon kay Gerald ay mga 1½ months silang nagkakilala ni Farina at mga 3 weeks din silang naging close. Hindi siya sanay sa pangalan na Farina dahil ‘Sharleen’ ang tawag niya rito noon (Sharleen Farina Runkle ang complete name nu’ng girl).

Agree ba siya na ginagamit lang siya ni Farina para pag-usapan ito?

"Hindi naman po. Ayoko naman po sabihin ‘yon. Ewan ko kung anong gusto niyang gawin!" sey niya.

May nakapagsabi kay Gerald na nu’ng nasa loob siya ng PBB house ay doon inilagay ni Farina ang pictures nila sa Friendster account nito.

Mula nu’ng pumasok siya hanggang sa makalabas ng Bahay ni Kuya ay hindi na raw niya ito nakausap. At kahit ngayon na may kumalat na ganitong isyu ay wala pa rin siyang balak hanapin at kausapin pa si Farina.

"Hindi na po. Kasi, ayoko na po, eh! At saka ‘yun nga po… nag-iba na siya, eh! So, bakit ko siya kakausapin kung ayaw niya, di ba?

"Okey na po ‘yon sa akin. Matagal na po ‘yon, eh! Nu’ng nasa Bahay ni Kuya pa ako, pinasok pa ‘yon (pictures) sa loob at ipinakita sa amin. So, okey lang!"

Kita sa nasabing larawan na mariin ang pagkakahalik niya sa labi ni Farina at tipong feel na feel niya ang ginagawa nila. Naku, hindi pala siya wholesome, huh!

"Hindi po, hindi po ganu’n! Ha! Ha! Ha!" tawa niya, na tipong nagba-blush at nahihiya sa pang-iintriga namin sa kanya.

"Ako po kasi, ayokong mambastos ng babae. May gusto siya sa akin; ako rin, gusto ko rin siya noon. Hindi naman ako makikipag-kiss sa girl kung wala akong gusto sa kanya, di ba?" hirit niya.

So, hanggang kiss lang ba sila?

"Opo! Ha! Ha! Ha!" sagot niya, na shy effect pa rin at payuku-yuko at pailing-iling.

Natuwa ba siya na hindi nakapasok sa Final 10 female survivors ng StarStruck The Next Level si Farina?

"Hindi naman po. Happy ako sa kanya na nakasali siya roon. Pero hindi po ako natutuwa na na-eliminate siya. Okey lang po sa akin. Siguro, may dahilan kung bakit siya natanggal or something."

Baka ngayon ay may bago na naman siyang girlfriend na any moment ay pwedeng maglabas ng intimate pictures nila…

"Ay, wala po! Wala akong girlfriend now. 100% sure po ako! Kung may pictures po ako ulit na lalabas, siguro kahit na anong gusto n’yong gawin sa akin, gawin n’yo na! Pero 100% sure po ako na wala," tila naghahamong sambit pa ni Gerald.

So very pathetic naman pala ang episode ng young, tall and good looking actor na ‘to. Kidding aside, in spite of his good height and appealing machismo, mala-Mo Twis-ter (if I may quote Mother Cristy Fermin. Ha! Ha! Ha!) lang daw ang kanyang equipment.

On Mo’s part, no big deal naman talaga ‘yun if ever it’s true, pero on this young and stud-like actor’s part, it’s a ve-ritable tragedy.

‘Yan daw ang tsismis ng elyadora niyang former girlfriend na eventually ay pumatol sa tibo. Oo nga’t paboloso raw kung magregalo ang aktor (“He gives you things like chocolates, roses galore, even jewelry if only to compensate for his loss at the side department,” wika ng libe-rated woman who’s now having an affair with a dancer/actor), pero wala raw talaga siyang naramdaman ever.

As if to confirm this highly-sexed woman’s pronouncements, ganyan din daw ang talkies ng isang tisay na aktres-aktresan who’s now very much hooked with a good-looking guy who seems to be promising at the crotch department.

How traumatic naman pala on the part of this gorgeous young man who happens to be a good actor as well.

Vina settles ‘Borgy issue’ with a big slap!

The Philippine Star reports on Vina and Borgy "big slap issue"

It was bound to happen, considering the small circle they move in, sooner or later. It happened, well, sooner.

Sunday night, the paths of Vina Morales and Borgy Manotoc did cross and what a resounding encounter it was!

As you must have known by now, Vina has been, to borrow irate Sen. Miriam’s words, "foaming in the mouth" after Borgy named her among the three famous women he said he had gone to bed with (also including German model Lana Asanin and starlet Victoria London) on the Forbidden Questions portion of DJ Mo Twister’s program on Magic 89.9 (Monday through Thursday, 6 to 9 a.m.).

"Of course, I know who Borgy Manotoc is," Vina had told Funfare, "who doesn’t? But I’m not close to him. Hanggang ‘Hi!’ and ‘Hello!’ lang kami. No, I’ve never gone to bed with him!"

Anyway, their chance encounter happened at Greenbelt where Vina and her Chinese boyfriend went to watch a movie Happy Feet. While her boyfriend was parking the car, Vina went ahead to buy tickets, accompanied by her boyfriend’s bodyguard. Guess who Vina saw near the box office, engrossed in a video game at the nearby Timezone – yes, Borgy and his girlfriend Ornussa Cadness!

Not losing a minute, Vina marched toward Borgy and confronted him.

The exchange happened this way, more or less:

Vina: Why did you say that I went to bed with you?

Borgy: Oh, it was just a joke!

Vina: A joke – at my expense?

Borgy: I’m sorry. It was really just a joke which went out of proportion.

Vina: How dare you make a such a bad joke!

Borgy: I’m sorry. Please don’t do this in a public place!

Vina: What did you say? Didn’t you make that bad joke in a public venue, on radio?

As Borgy kept saying, "I’m sorry!", Vina delivered a big slap across his face, making his mouth bleed.

Being a gentleman (I believe he is), Borgy just kept saying, "I’m sorry!" while Ornussa and Vina’s boyfriend’s bodyguard stood by.

Then, Vina’s boyfriend arrived and asked what was the matter.

"I can handle this," Vina assured him.

Before they parted, Vina and Borgy let bygones be bygones by giving each other a hug.

Asked by Funfare yesterday why she did it, Vina said, "It had been more than a week since the controversy broke out; I’ve all over television, hurting, but Borgy never said a word. Not even a call or a text message to apologize. I was worried that people were starting to believe that I really went to bed with him."

Asked further how she felt after the incident, Vina said, "Relieved! I’d been hurting...I needed my name to be cleared. No, I have no regrets that I did it."

Would she still file a slander case against Borgy as planned?

"I don’t think so," said Vina who acted as "judge" and delivered a reverberating "verdict."

Now, who’s to blame for untoward incidents like this...for celebrities being pitted against one another? DJ Mo Twister and his "forbidden questions"? I don’t think so. As Mo said, "I only ask the questions. It’s my guests who give the answers."

Could it be the guest celebrities who are presumably desperate for attention and publicity? Or, perhaps, for the sake of, as Borgy told Vina, simply "joking?" What do you think?

Okay, so the case between Vina and Borgy is closed.

All’s well that ends well?

Nasa Makati Medical Hospital si Biboy Ramirez noong Sabado, November 9, nang mag-reply ito sa (PEP) Philippine Entertainment Portal sa pamamagitan ng text message noong una at ‘di kalaunan ay tumawag na rin to clear the issue on him and his rumored girlfriend StarStruck Batch 3 Female Ultimate Survivor, Jackie Rice.

Ayon kay Biboy, napasugod daw siya sa hospital dahil sa isang non-showbiz friend na nasa critical condition. Pero ayaw na nitong pag-usapan pa yun at masulat dahil hindi naman daw artista ang kaibigan.

Bago tumawag si Biboy, nag-text muna ang PEP sa kanya para alamin ang side niya kung totoo ngang nag-away at umabot pa sa pisikalan ang naging engkuwentro ni Jackie at ng mommy nito na si Vicki Sobreo.

Ang isyu kasi ay hindi raw pabor kay Biboy ang mommy ni Jackie. Ang gusto raw ng ina para sa anak ay ang kapareha ni Jackie sa Tatlong Baraha na si Maynard Lapid, anak ni Senator Lito Lapid. Ang ending, ayon sa mga nasusulat, pinalayas daw ni Jackie ang sariling ina sa bahay nito sa Manila.

"Walang tumama, swear to God! Saang planeta naman nanggaling ‘yan?" natatawang sagot ni Biboy na unang napanood sa mga youth-oriented show na Besfriends at Click ng GMA-7 at naging first runner-up din sa reality-based show na 30 Days.

On the other hand, hindi naman itinanggi ni Biboy na nagkaroon nga ng pag-aaway between Jackie and her mom.

"‘Yun, totoo yun!" sabi ni Biboy. "Nagkaroon nga sila ng konting away or nagkasagutan, pero hindi naman umabot sa pisikalan or nagkasakitan na sila. Walang ganoon. At saka yung isyu naman nila, family matters... Usual na nagkakaroon ng tampuhan or diskusyon ang magulang at anak, but it has nothing to do with me."

Ayon pa kay Biboy, na kasalukuyang napapanood sa telefantasya na Atlantika ng GMA-7, wala raw siyang problema sa buong pamilya ni Jackie.

"Okey naman ako with her family...Sa mommy at sa daddy niya. At kahit sa mga kapatid ni Jackie, maayos, walang problema."

Bilang pagtatanggol pa rin kay Jackie, pinabulaanan din ni Biboy ang isyung pinalayas ni Jackie ang sariling ina kaya naman nasa Olongapo na naman daw ito instead na kasa-kasama sana ng young actress dito sa Manila.

Paliwanag ni Biboy, "Hindi naman totoo ‘yon. Hindi pinalayas ni Jackie ang mommy niya. Ang mommy niya talaga ang gusto munang umuwi ng Olongapo dahil marami pa ring kapatid si Jackie na mas bata sa kanya na dapat alagaan ng mommy niya, tutal naman, ‘yung daddy niya, kasama na rin ni Jackie rito sa Manila.

Dagdag pa niya, "At saka, alam ko, okey naman sila. Nagte-text-an naman sila at nagtatawagan."

Nang taunungin kung ilang months na ang itinatagal ng relasyon nila ni Jackie, natawa lang si Binoy at nakiusap na huwag na lang daw yun pag-usapan.

Mark Herras wants different leading ladies

Manila Bulletin reports that Mark Herras wants to work with different leading ladies

In the movie "Super Noypi", both Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado play super heroes with uncanny abilities. Though together again in a movie, the story and the whole cast are the film's focus than their love team. Could this be the start of the end of the Mark-Jennylyn love team?

"Not necessarily. Maybe GMA is just experimenting on something. Maybe they would want our love team to take a break first. We've been a love team for almost three years and love teams don't last that long," said the actor in Tagalog.

As witnessed by the showbiz-loving public, broken love teams usually have consequences. One of them is either the downfall of the actor or actress' career. And that would mean having less TV or movie projects. But Mark sees it differently - moving away from a love team would present more opportunities as an actor.

He explained: "First of all I have a good working relationship with GMA Artist Center. Second there's Nanay Lolit. And I have experienced that Jen and I were treated equally. I think I'll still have a good career because even if I don't have a regular show, I'd have guest appearances in different TV shows."

If ever his love team with Jen really fizzles. Mark would not be on the lookout for a new love team partner. Rather he would take that chance to really hone his craft as an actor. He even admired the direction of Richard Gutierrez’ acting career since he can be paired with any leading lady, something he wants to do soon.

“I’ve passed the love team stage already. There are new actresses like Jackie Rice and Iwa Moto who I won’t mind working with. It’s nice to work with different actresses in every project. It’s okay for me if I have a love team or not,” expressed Mark who’s currently paired with Jackie Rice in GMA 7’s “Princess Charming.”

So far Mark has worked with Jen in the movies “So Happy Together,” “Let The Love Begin,” “Say That You Love Me,” “Lovestruck,” “Blue Moon” and “Eternity.” The last TV series they worked on is in “I Luv NY.”

So what benefits did he get from having a love team with Jennylyn Mercado?

“There’s a lot, like we became easily popular because of the love team. We also got a lot of projects because our love team clicked. Up to now when we each do individual shows, people still ask us where our partners were,” smiled Mark.

The two though remains good friends despite all the alleged womanizing issues of the said actor that may have caused their separation. During filming of “Super Noypi,” insiders from Regal Entertainment’s production team reported that the two were still very caring and sweet with one another. Their concern for each other was also said to have complimented and even enhanced their characters “kilig moments” in the movie. It was even rumored that the two even got back together.

What works between the two actors is their chemistry on the silver screen whether they are in a romantic scene or not. Insiders of the movie even commented that they don’t only act well, they look great in their super hero costumes. For those who haven’t seen the “Super Noypi” posters or trailer, Mark is in a fitting black jacket and pants with matching buckled-boots. He is Lorenzo and he has telekinetic abilities. While Jen as Lia looks daring and very sexy in an all gray-sleeveless jacket and tights that reveal her slim physique.

So how was it playing a superhero?

”After I saw the whole film, I became very proud of it. Regal really spent a lot for this film. All the effects and prosthetics were made be their very creative production team,” he boasted.

Looking back Mark has no regrets about their relationship crumbling nor does he blame himself. He also pointed out that the rumors about him were just blown out of proportion. He stands by his story that he and Ryza Cenon never kissed and that he only courted Marian Rivera when he and Jen were over to name a few.

“I guess it’s fate. That’s where our relationship took us. I have no regrets,” he said. Unlike before he stressed that he doesn’t meddle anymore in Jen’s businesses like a boyfriend. He respects whatever she does in her career and he always wished her well.

Mark is currently single since he stopped pursuing a relationship with an actress recently. He attributed his decision to their difference in life style. He felt that that would have an effect on their relationship in the future.

“I wasn’t comfortable because she has a high living lifestyle. Some would say it would be alright since I love her and I just had to adjust, but I saw it otherwise. I even sought her opinion. So the earlier I stop, the better it is for the two of us,” he lamented.

Just like his past girlfriends, Mark revealed that he never was a man who would look for someone to be his girlfriend. He always believed that who ever is for him would just come to his life.

At the moment Mark Herras would be doing two films with John Pratts next year and there’s a soap opera in the works for him. He also likes to venture on a business someday when he finished paying his house in North View 2 in Quezon City.

So why would children of all ages make “Super Noypi” a must watch movie this Christmas?

“First of all this will be the first time that all our fans will see us together as super heroes in a movie. It’s for the whole family and it’s not boring with all the action scenes. They will surely enjoy the film with its special effects. We all worked for this and it’s going to be worth their time. It’s like the Pinoy version of X-Men,” replied Mark.

If ever, like Lorenzo, Mark could relate to his character’s surprise in finding out he has super powers. Before he started in showbiz and even before he joined “Starstruck,” Mark only loved dancing. It was during the “Starstruck” contest and after that he was surprised to find out he could act. Acting then became his second love as he really wants to have a long career in showbiz. The only time he would stop if he feels that he is already begging for roles or parts to play.

“Maybe when this happens I already have a stable life to fall back to,” he remarked. “I love my work but I’d quit showbiz when its already appropriate for me to do so.”
